Was this work or play? We need to keep in touch with
the Olympic site because of the way it affects footpaths in the area.
Visiting the site on foot with all the construction going on would have
been very difficult. So we went by boat - rubber dinghy, up the River Lea
and the River Lea Navigation.
Some paths are being permanently closed, some will
reopen after the Olympics, some wholly new ones are being created.
The start and finish of the trip were quite
exiting, doing up to 40 mph in a rubber dinghy
on the Canary Wharf - Dome - Leamouth part of the journey.
